Hawaiian Party Theme Ideas

The Hawaiian party theme would work well being held on the beach, but could also be in a park or in your back garden. The centre point of the party should be your surf shack or beach bar, which ever one you choose.

The Hawaiian theme party is traditionally all about the music, dancing and eating nice food.

Dressing up is essential for any Hawaiian party theme. For the ladies I suggest grass skirts, floral armbands, lei necklaces, flowers in their hair and sandals. If you like, you can also go for a coconut bra to top off the outfit.

The men don’t have it as good with the costume Im afraid. Most guys already have an awful Hawaiian print shirt in their wardrobe, get some matching shorts, some sandals and you’re set. I would though top it off with sunglasses, and floral necklace.

For the setting, consider some or all of the following; beach balls and net, sea shells and coconuts scattered around, hula hoops with a possible instructor and a limbo stick. The limbo is a great game to play when everybody is drunk later on.

For food i would provide steel skewers or tooth picks and allow your guests to skewer their own choice from a selection of tropical fruits such as mangos, pineapples, grapefruits, cherries, grapes and melon etc. Also look into some traditional Hawaiian chicken and fish dishes you can find on the internet.

For the drinks, I would consider hiring out a cocktail maker (budget dependant), this will provide great entertainment also. If not then you can provide instructions for your guests for favorites such as the Aloha and castaway. Provide little umbrellas to top off the drink.

Finally, for the music! Ska normally suits this party theme very well though it is not to everybodys taste. You could go for the usual selection of present hits. Though Hawaii does have a proud music scene that perhaps you should investigate.
