How Much Abuse Can Your Hot Tub Cover Take?
We got a humorous phone call the other day from a customer that said her spa cover had pulled out the fasteners. She went on to explain that snow had caused the cover to pull away from the deck.
About after thirty years of creating Custom Replacement Hot Tub Covers this strikes me funny. What is the reason? Well, it is because the bottom of our cover is supported by the water in the hot tub. It simply means that no amount of snow is going to crush it since it isn’t trying to make a bridge over your spa.
When snow falls on it, even if it is a lot, it will just fall in the same manner which means that it would not pile up one just one side of your hot tub and not the other. It should evenly land on the entire hot tub cover and not cause a problem even if you get ten feet of snow.
A sudden large amount of snow would have had to pour down onto her cover, in order for our customer to have a problem as she described. This for sure once we started discussing what exactly what had happened. Several feet of bulky wet snow had slid off the roof of her house and landed on her spa cover.
Let us take for example, if a tree falls on your hot tub, is it smash up that the spa manufacturer should cover? If an avalanche pounds down on your spa cover is that something that the maker is accountable for?
Every winter we do a brisk business changing rigid foam spa covers that have been smashed up by the weight of snow or skewered by falling ice. Because our covers are air filled rather than foam filled, they can hold this kind of mistreatment much better compared to any foam filled spa cover ever could.
Nonetheless, there are limitations to the warranty. Happily for our customer all it will take is changing of some grommets in the cover. If it had been a rigid foam cover it would be smashed beyond repair.
Just something to think about before you replace another hot tub cover that has been damaged by snow or ice. Check out the only true advancement in Hot Tub Covers in the last thirty years at www.SpaCap.com.
